The general public has certain expectations when it comes to relationships. Haven’t uploaded a picture of your other half? You’re assumed to be single. Haven’t bought flowers “just because”? God forbid you forget to Instagram your dinner with your significant other. The list of rules and social norms goes on and on.
It’s usually assumed that if you don’t tick all the boxes of “how to be in a relationship”, you’re at fault. Realistically, however, the online expectations projected onto your relationship can’t always be achieved. But how can we get around this issue? By calling it out online, of course.
A Twitter-user by the name of GirlThatsSlim tweeted that he’s a fan of girls that he can lift up, captioning a gif with “when she’s small enough for you to do this to her”. They then followed the tweet up with “but at the same time <<<< shit I want a girl who can do that to me”. The tweet swiftly went viral, with over 17,000 retweets.

20-year-old Bekkah spotted this on her Twitter feed as she was scrolling through, and paused. What if you’re not small and petite? In her words, “I know a girl doesn’t need to be small to be lifted by a man. I’m 5 foot 9!” She decided to issue a small, yet powerful, response to the original tweet.
