But, what if you actually had to solve a hidden image search in order to avoid stepping on a potentially deadly snake? Talk about upping the stakes, am I right?
Snake biologist Helen Pylar shared recently shared a photo with her Twitter followers, which begged the highly important question: Can You Spot The Snake?
Helen said that the photo was shared with her by a fellow herpetologist, and that the hidden snake in question was an expertly camouflaged copperhead — which, for reference, looks something like this:
Oh, and to answer the unspoken question in your head, yes: this snake is very poisonous, and you definitely don’t want to mistake it for a pile of leaves and/or step on it.
Despite the fairly simple prompt, everyone on Twitter had a surprisingly difficult time spotting the sneaky snakey.
Some joked that the whole riddle must be some sort of trick question.
Many were utterly clueless.
And some were pretty sure they had just been duped into staring at a photo of the ground for 20 minutes.
However, the photo wasn’t an elaborate ruse at all, and Helen eventually shared the much-sought-after answer with her followers.
(Spoilers ahead, if you haven’t yet attempted to find the snake on your own.)
Helen revealed that the camouflaged snake was actually smack-dab in the center of the photograph all along.
Whaaaat? That snake is practically invisible!
Well, this whole thing has me questioning my observation skills — but it has definitely given me a newfound appreciation for snakes and their powers of disguise …
