Twitter Is Having All The Feels After Last Night’s Finale Of ‘Big Little Lies’

Last night, HBO’s addictive Big Little Lies aired its season finale — and the internet, in short, could not fully handle its collective emotions.

The series followed the intersecting stories of three mothers living in the wealthy suburbs of Monterey, California: gloriously domineering Madeline (Reese Witherspoon, in her total Tracy Flick element), the haunted and sensitive Celeste (Nicole Kidman, with a performance that frankly deserves Emmy recognition), and the secretive and strong-willed Jane (Shailene Woodley, in a quietly powerful turn).

While nobody really knew what to expect of the show from the previews (except for maybe a lot of indulgent shots of the ocean), the first episode teased its magnetic narrative enough to draw audiences in and leave them captivated by the surprisingly grounded and poignant stories of these mothers who were inexplicably drawn closer together by a mysterious murder.

After the finale, everyone on Twitter was pretty much like “I need a minute, guys.” There were so many emotions to process! So much girl power to languish in! So many Audrey Hepburn costumes to marvel at!

Be forewarned: SPOILERS AHEAD.

It was a privilege to inhabit your beautiful, well-lit, immaculately decorated world, Big Little Lies. Thank you for remind us that Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman are national treasures. And thank you for reminding us that Alexander Skarsgård is the creepy/terrifying kind of handsome.
