It’s sort of hard to believe that we’re still getting offended by women breastfeeding in public in the year 2017. Like, is it so unfathomable that female breasts be used for their biological purpose that they cause an uproar anytime they aren’t being exposed in the name of sex? Can we not just let these friggin’ babies eat?
One actress recently encountered some fairly old-fashioned backlash when she posted a (honestly tame) breastfeeding photo of herself and her newborn daughter.
Christian Serratos plays Rosita Espinosa on AMC’s The Walking Dead, and recently gave birth to a little girl. Though Serratos has been fairly private about her new baby, she did recently post a breastfeeding selfie which was meant to highlight a necklace she was wearing.
Even though her breast was barely visible in the photo, commenters were instantly critical, claiming that the actress posted the photo purely to get attention.
Serratos had zero time for criticism, however, and made it clear in a followup photo that she wasn’t about to be shamed for breastfeeding her daughter or posting the photos to her personal Instagram account.
“This is my body and my page,” she wrote. “So I will post what I want, when I want. Those who disapprove can suck my left tit.”
Simple, succinct, and savage. Pretty much the perfect response when facing online trolls who want to attack women for feeding their babies in (*gasp*) PUBLIC.
