Over thousands of years, humanity has expressed itself through the medium of visual art. Some artworks, like Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel or the Venus de Milo from Ancient Greece, will go down in history as some of the most iconic feats of human expression. While the 20th century has given us the likes of Andy Warhol’s Can of Soup, the advent of abstract art means that more than ever before, the idea of what makes good art is subjective.
From plain canvases being featured in world-famous art museums to Shia Labeouf wearing a paper bag over his head, art can mean anything you want it to mean, but sometimes, good art can happen by accident. Out in Aberdeen, Scotland, 22-year-old student Ruairi Gray left a pineapple at an art exhibit in Robert Gordon University, but his simple prank somehow ended up being celebrated as a work of art.
