Hey, can everybody come in here a minute? I have an announcement I need to make:
YO. EVERYONE. PLEASE STOP MAKING HORRIBLE EYEBROW TRENDS ON INSTAGRAM, I FEEL PERSONALLY ATTACKED BY THEM AND I DON’T KNOW HOW MUCH MORE I CAN TAKE.
Okay. Phew! Now that I’ve got that out of the way …
A new eyebrow trend has unfortunately emerged on on social media this week, and this one may finally do me in. The trend is called “Dragon Brows,” and, much like its mythological namesake, it is a fearsome beast.
In order achieve “Dragon Brows,” one must use some sort of eyebrow gel to spike their brow hair into little, individual triangles/spikes, pointing them upwards toward the hairline.
The trend was invented by Instagram user @harlibi
Which is certainly a noble endeavor, and I applaud her usage of the phrase “expression-caterpillars.” However, and we all know too well, even an innocent and just-for-funsies eyebrow trend can get out of hand and become monumentally annoying in no time.
People are already attempting to create their own “Dragon Brows” (with middling to fair results).
And believe me — I totally understand that, sometimes, you just want to create a makeup look that’s unusual and unique. But do you have to name your brow design? By doing so, you’re simply begging for people to recreate the look and kickstart a trend that was never that great to begin with.
But, hey. It’s your life. If you want to spike up your brows so that they’re reminiscent of “dragons” (which, by the way: how?), then by all means.
As for me, I’m gonna let my brows keep living their damn life, and refrain from molding them into a modern art sculpture.
