In the latest installment of his wonderful “Everything Is a Remix” series, filmmaker Kirby Ferguson takes a detailed look at Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens to demonstrate how director JJ Abrams drew inspiration from a various sources, including what was copied, changed and repackaged from Star Wars IV: A New Hope, the original film of the very same franchise.

The remix method of copying, transforming and combining is definitely used in The Force Awakens, as well as the other works of JJ Abrams. Is remixing a weak point in The Force Awakens? Is the remix method growing stale? Have we reached the limits of remixing?
