We’ve seen quite a few live action remakes of classic animated films over the past few years, most recently Beauty And The Beast starring Emma Thompson. Could there be an opportunity to revive other family films whose appeal continues till this day? Well, with a Jumanji sequel on the horizon, it seems we are about to have our childhoods either ruined or enhanced.
The 1995 family adventure film was a smash hit, with box office takings of over $26o million. Sadly, the star of the film Robin Williams is no longer with us, having tragically passed away in 2014.
Robin’s death initially cast doubt over the possibility of a Jumanji sequel, and rightly so. A remake is unlikely to feel the same without him. Imagine remaking Mrs Doubtfire without the man behind the wig? I’m shuddering at the thought already. One of Robin’s co-stars had a few words to say about the possibility of remaking the film without its much-loved lead.
Bradley Pierce who played Peter Shepherd, brother to Kirsten Dunst’s character Judy, is all grown up and has a family of his own now. When asked his thoughts on a sequel, the 34-year-old actor was in two minds.
