It is the belief of many that children aren’t born with any hatred or prejudice in their hearts, that those character traits are learned behaviours impacted by immediate surroundings and the environment in which one grows up.
Brandi Brenner had promised her daughter that she could choose a new doll from Target after one whole month of her graduation onto using the potty to go to the toilet. She took the opportunity to select her new companion extremely seriously, her mother says; Sophia was set on finding a doctor doll as she sees herself as something of a budding medical professional.
Brandi Brenner’s two-year-old daughter, Sophia, from South Carolina, has made waves online with her heartwarming and incredibly mature response to a sales-person who attempted to direct the pint-sized educator towards a different doll after she had chosen one that, the sales-person said, “doesn’t look like you.”
What Sophia said next would prove a valuable lesson to all of us in tolerance, love and equality – as she gave the perfect response to the suggestion that she should choose another doll.
