The Department of Wondrous Woodworking just discovered its newest member: Japanese-Canadian artist Mori Kono, aka Moriyuki, who carves beautifully lifelike animals using fallen Western red cedar logs. Each animal, including bears, raccoons, squirrels, chipmunks, and owls, appears to be peering out of a natural hollow in their tree.

Follow Mori Kono on Instagram or Facebook to check out more of his wonderful woodcarving.
