It’s hard not to feel bad for the EA PR team (of course, not as bad as I feel for the Pepsi PR team, but one person’s pain does not lessen another’s). Late last night, a trailer leaked for the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront II, the sequel to 2015’s amazing Star Wars universe multiplayer shooter. And it sounds like one of the biggest problems with the first game — its lack of a single player campaign — is being addressed. Battlefront II looks to tell the story of what happened right after Return of the Jedi, framing it as “the untold soldier’s story”. I do have to ask, though — could there be a reason their story was untold? This “untold soldier” might be, you know, a dullard.
Another of the first game’s missing features that appear to be in Battlefront II are Star Wars’ signature space battles. The trailer shows a bunch of small, scrappy X-Wings taking on an overwhelming number of TIE Fighters.
And finally, Battlefront II is adding more heroes to its multiplayer battles, including characters from all nine Star Wars movies.
That means that, for the first time, Rey and Darth Maul will appear in the same game together. Man, I wonder what those two jokers have to talk about?
