News Anchor Pays Tribute To Biggie Smalls By Rapping His Lyrics Live On TV And It’s Glorious

March 9 is a special day to many hip hop fans because it is the anniversary of the tragic death of iconic New York rapper Christopher Wallace, a.k.a. Notorious B.I.G. or Biggie Smalls. Biggie was killed by an unknown assailant in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles, California after leaving a party in the early hours of the morning. He was survived by his wife, R&B/soul singer Faith Evans, and two children.

Right from the release of his debut album Ready to Die, Biggie cemented his role as one of the most influential voices in hip hop. This legacy lived on through his ominously titled second album Life After Death which was released just 16 days after his death.

Life After Death went on to become one of the few rap albums to be certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) – a certification awarded to albums which have sold 10 million copies or more. More Biggie albums have also been released posthumously, and his influence on fans and other hip hop artists has remained strong even after his death.
