The modelling industry is a tricky business to succeed in, and the odds are normally against you if you aren’t a size zero. Not only this, but the modelling industry is also deeply discriminatory. A report by CNN last year stated that: “Over New York, London, Paris and Milan 77.6% of the time models on the runway were white. New York was the frontrunner for diversity, then London, Paris and Milan.”
Angus Munro, the co-founder of prestigious modelling agency AM Casting, told CNN that: “Without question the issue of diversity is at the forefront of our challenges. The fact that there is an issue at all is unfathomably disgraceful.” It is not just the modelling industry who holds these opposing views, too.
