Last month we shared footage of the great big squirming chrysalis of the Hercules beetle (Dynastes hercules) belonging to Hirofumi Kawano. It looked like some sort of handheld alien technology Kawano had discovered on Earth.

Now, thanks to YouTuber Wise Wanderer, we can watch a time-lapse video montage of the entire metamorphosis of the Hercules beetle from a tiny, freshly hatched larva to its shiny and pointy final adult form, proving once again that nature is awesome:
