Japanese artist Takumi Kama creates awesomely realistic paintings of completely imaginary insects. Leaf insects are very real and really do use mimicry to hide from predators, but Kama’s leaf insects take this ability to a surreal new level. Instead of blending into tropical forests, these insects blend into urban environments. One hides among money by resembling the 1000 yen bill (pictured above). The other hides in stores or recycling bins by camouflaging itself as pages of comic books or comic strips:
