How to Ask a Girl Out Properly: 5 Essential Things to Know

We get it. Girls are hard to figure out, and getting rejected sucks. But there are a couple of things us ladies like when it comes to getting asked out that can make the whole painful process smoother for everyone.

Talk to Her Before You Go for It

As women, we kind of understand that the person trying to date us wants to get with us. But do they only want to get with us, or do they want to get with us and listen to what we have to say? So guys, talk to her before you get in there and ask her out. About what, you ask? Literally anything.

Make Her Feel Like the Only Girl in the World

Nobody wants to feel as if she’s b*tch number three. So don’t make her think you’ve been texting a bunch of girls, like a salesman trying to get his numbers up. We’re kind of inclined to think that every boy hits on every girl, so make her feel important!

We Shouldn’t Have to Say This But Maybe Bathe?

Girls do a lot to impress men. A lot. You don’t even want to know how much we drop on lotion alone. And it’s frustrating for us when we’ll spend hours getting ready for a date with a dude who shows up wearing the same t-shirt as yesterday. It’s a bit, for lack of a better word, unfair. So please, please, please shower!

For The Love of God, Don’t Neg!

WTF is up with this negging stuff? It should go without saying, but you can’t really insult a girl into going out with you. We’re not on the playground. We don’t like having our pigtails pulled. Like your quaint Southern grandma always said, “You catch more flies with honey than vinegar.” But in this scenario, flies are dates with girls and honey is not negging.

Take No for an Answer

Okay. It sucks. And trust me, we’ve all been there. But if the girl you ask out says no, let that be her answer. Trying to trick someone into dating you who said no by being really, really persistent is, at best, creepy.
