Here Are 116 Photos NASA Chose To Explain Our World To Aliens

If aliens were to arrive on Earth, what would you tell them about the world we live in? Would you tell them about the political system? What food we eat? What is socially acceptable to say, and what is not? We cannot even assume that they speak any of the languages spoken in the world.

Thankfully, this question, and answer, is safe in the hands of NASA. In 1977, NASA created the Golden Record. It’s housed in Voyager 1, a spacecraft which is currently over 11 billion miles away from the Sun. Voyager 1 has been transmitting information to Earth for 40 years, and will continue to do so until 2025. It will remain in space after its mission has finished, along with the Golden Record.

Thankfully, instructions can be found on the aluminium case of the record. The content on the Golden
Record is supposed to give an accurate description of life on Earth, and includes 116 images which depict different parts of the world we live in.
