‘Harry Potter’ Actor Taken To Intensive Care After Head On Car Crash

Today has been an important date for fans of The Prisoner of Azkaban, the third instalment of J.K. Rowling’s bestselling Harry Potter series. Bloomsbury Publishing proudly unveiled the illustrated edition of the 1999 book but tragically, on the very same day, a cast member from the film adaption ended up in a brutal car accident which has left him seriously injured.

You might remember Jim Tavaré as the actor who portrayed Tom, the hunchbacked innkeeper of the Leaky Cauldron pub in Diagon Alley. Although his role was fairly minor, it was well-regarded by fans thanks to Tavaré’s screen presence and comic timing.

As a result of a high-speed head-on collision, Tavaré has suffered a broken neck and punctured lung, as well as fifteen broken ribs, multiple breaks in his right leg and a fractured breastbone. The English actor, comedian and musician was quickly rushed to hospital to undergo emergency surgery. He is now recovering in intensive care.

Tavaré’s wife Laura shared her 54-year-old husband’s painful injuries when she uploaded a picture of the bruised actor lying in bed with a cast around his neck on Facebook. The image quickly gained a large number of concerned comments from Tavaré’s fans.
