Harry Potter: 7 More Stories We Want the Movies to Explore

With Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them coming our way — as a trilogy no less — the Harry Potter franchise is in a good place. With the book series having ended almost 10 years ago, J.K. Rowling has found a way for writers, creators, and even herself to continue exploring its nooks and crannies through side stories only hinted at in the books. And since we can’t wait to hear what comes after Fantastic Beasts, here are some stories we want to see after Fantastic Beasts. Here are the Harry Potter universe tales we want to see get their own movies!

Quidditch Through The Ages

“Quidditch Through the Ages”, the companion piece to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, would be a great opportunity for more of the action-packed Quidditch scenes that were so exciting in the movies. Seeing the various Quidditch champs throughout history would be a way for a big nerd like me to finally understand sports. Mr. Whisp, we await your entrance!

The History of the Malfoys

The Malfoys sold their souls to an obviously wicked figure for a tiny shred of power, and in the end, even that was taken from them — how must they feel after that? And who was this family before Lucious made that terrible decision? We’ve seen Harry Potter triumph over evil, so it would be eye-opening to see someone buckle under it.

The Ministry of Magic

We’ve been preoccupied with politics as of late, so the time is right for a Ministry of Magic movie. Part Hamilton, part that great scene above where Harry and his friends escape the Death Eaters, a Ministry of Magic movie could showcase how the Wizarding World came to be! I mean, we don’t know who decided Muggles couldn’t be in the know about wizards, or who wrote the wand control laws. Am I a nerd amongst nerds for wanting to see long arguments between wizards about who gets to own a special kind of map? Oh, maybe…

Young Dumbledore

As the Young Han Solo movie gets off the ground, it’s clear that we want to see our favorite characters’ teen years on screen. This is absolutely true of Albus Dumbledore — who was this strange adventurer when he was Harry Potter’s age? Was he as inquisitive as his brightest student? How did he deal with the forces of the 20th Century? It could be the X-Men: First Class of the Wizarding World as we see Snape, Umbridge, McGonagall and others in their formative years.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

A Harry Potter story that will almost inevitably become a film, J.K. Rowling’s eighth Harry Potter adventure, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, imagines complex times ahead for Harry Potter’s progeny. The Cursed Child play is currently dominating the London Theater, which gives me hope that in 40 years’ time, Harry Potter stories will make their debuts in every medium, from iPhone game to sand castle to cereal box advertisement. 10 points and 10 million dollars for Gryffindor!

The History of Hogwarts

There are few stories in the Harry Potter universe I’d be more excited to see than the history of Hogwarts. Who created the four houses? Who decided that age 11 was the time to enter the school? Was there a man actually named “Hogwarts”? There’s a lot to explore, and of course Hogwarts has always been the root and heart of any good Harry Potter story. It’s time to make it the main event!

Hey, What’s Bertie Bott Up To?

Did J.K. Rowling for real introduce a man who makes barf-flavored candy and not explore it any further? This is unacceptable. We fans demand the Bertie Bott Story, stat!
