Just when you think Disney has done all it can with its Frozen franchise, including an upcoming Broadway musical version in 2018 and a Christmas special later this year, the company announces that more Frozen content is coming. This time, it will be through a series of TV shorts and books called Frozen Northern Lights.
The first novel of the book series will debut in July from Disney Publishing, while Disney Channel will air a series of TV shorts and a special from LEGO Group this fall. (So prepare to have to buy even MORE Frozen merchandise, only this time in LEGO form!)
Josh Gad, the actor who voices Olaf in the film, as well as the rest of the original cast, will be returning to voice their characters for the TV shorts. Gad voiced his enthusiasm for the series in a statement saying, “The shorts are unbelievably cool. Fans are absolutely going to love it. All of the voice talent from the original film is back. This is going to be unbelievable you guys.” He also touched on why he thinks fans of the move love his character, Olaf, so damn much. “He’s funny, loyal and a great friend and going on any adventure with him is fun.” Hm, I think it’s because he’s a doofy-looking talking snowman, but that’s just me. (I also prefer Sven.)
What do you guys think of the Frozen additions? Is Disney just getting every penny worth of this franchise that it can, or do you think the shorts are a great idea that will be fun to watch? Let us know on Twitter @Smosh!
