Creators Of ‘Paranormal Activity’ Announce Series Featuring Creepy Human Experiments

Paranormal Activity is one of the most successful and popular horror franchises in recent memory, and now the series is about to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Pretty impressive for something that started out as something of a low-budget bottle episode where the scares were mostly psychological and the tension inherent in the anticipation of further terror to come.

Along other spine-chilling features such as The Blair Witch Project, Rec and Cloverfield, Paranormal Activity helped codify the “found footage” subgenre of horror movie. The first movie had humble beginnings: the whole thing was shot in a week on a tiny budget of $15,000, and premiered in movie festivals in 2001. With Steven Spielberg’s blessing it saw limited release in cinemas in September 2009 –  after an effective marketing campaign managed to get the film released nationwide.

Since then each successive instalment has gone on to make more and more money, and although most of the movies are unrelated in terms of plot and characters, they all feature the same broad themes and visual motifs. The sixth and last feature in the franchise, entitled Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, was released way back in October 23, 2015, and since then the movies have been dormant, and many fans have been left dissatisfied and eager for more scares from the creators.

So if you consider yourself an aficionado of all things spooky, then the following news will probably make you very happy … and make your hair stand on end. The creators of Paranormal Activity are producing a terrifying new TV series, and the worst part is that the story is based on real-life events.
