CCTV Footage Shows Teenager Leaving Rucksack Full Of Explosives On Underground Train

A university student who left a ball bearing bomb on a tube train on the London underground has told the court how the whole thing was a “prank” that went wrong. Damon Smith, 20, allegedly left the homemade bomb on a carriage on the Jubilee line before changing his clothes and going to a university lecture.

Damon Smith, 20, left a rucksack on an eastbound Jubilee line train at London Bridge on October 20 last year. The 20-year-old had travelled from Surrey Quays to Southwark, which was where he activated a timer made from a clock bought from a local Tesco store.

CCTV footage played in court showed Smith’s journey starting at Southwark and terminating at London Bridge at 10.49am. It was here that he abandoned his rucksack, which he had timed to go off at 11.02am.
