An explosion at a McDonald’s restaurant in Grenoble, France has prompted an emergency response as well as several road closures.
A large device was spotted in a toilet on Thursday April 27, and detonated at about 11.50am local time. Police have not yet stated whether this incident should be considered an act of terror.
A police insider suggested that the blast could have been the result of a large firecracker. McDonald’s employees alerted the authorities upon spotting smoke and fire from the restaurant’s second floor. A bomb squad is on the scene and investigating the incident.
