A new web series called “Strange Buds” has come up with an idea so genius, it’s a wonder it hadn’t been done sooner. Produced by Seattle-based viral content creator The Cut, Strange Buds carries out a simple task. Get people together. Watch them get high. Film the results.
As part of this series, the good folks at The Cut have facilitated young love (and pure hilarity) by getting people on a blind date to smoke weed together. If you’re wondering how that went, one of the daters started off by asking for a high five and ended up telling the guy he was with that his moustache was unattractive. Yeah, it certainly removed all first date jitters and there wasn’t a single filter in sight.
However, hands down, the best video so far has been the clip of a rabbi, priest and atheist smoking weed together. Rabbi Jim Mirel, emeritus rabbi of the Reform temple B’nai Torah of Bellevue, Washington, Episcopal priest Chris Schuler, and Carlos Diller, who described himself as “a conservative homosexual atheist” sat down to get high and have a chat.
Not only do they discuss God and life, the priest gets to update his slang vocabulary. The clip now has over a million views.
So, the main lesson from this experiment is that weed can bring people together and get them very high. Who knew? It’s clear from the video that the guys all seemed to get along really well while filming, and even mentioned staying in touch afterwards. Could there be a repeat performance in the near future?
