A New ‘Game Of Thrones’ Trailer Dropped And It’s Time To Get Pumped

Game of Thrones can’t come back soon enough, but until then we’re just going to have to learn to get by on whatever crumbs we can without completely spoiling it for ourselves.

A new trailer for season 7 of Game of Thrones just dropped and it’s setting the stage for an epic clash

The trailer follows three of our principle characters—Cersei Lannister, Danaerys Targaryen, and Jon Snow—dramatically walking down hallways before finally taking a seat in a throne room of sorts.

Cersei assumes the Iron Throne in King’s Landing

After she murdered the High Sparrow and Queen Margaery Tyrell and her son Tommen took a header out of a window at the Red Keep, Cersei’s all that’s left. She even decked the throne room out with the rampant lions of House Lannister.

John Snow takes his seat as the rightful heir to Winterfell

Last season, John Snow finally re-took his home of Winterfell (with a big assist from his “sister”/cousin Sansa, Littlefinger, and the Knights of the Vale) from the Boltons and is the de-facto leader in the North.

But the most interesting thing is where Danaerys is. She sits on a rocky throne we haven’t seen before

When we last left her, she was sailing towards Westeros with Theon Greyjoy, his sister Yara, and their fleet of ships, which led some to speculate it was the Seastone Chair, throne of the ruler of the Iron Islands.

The truth is, Dany is in Dragonstone, home to her Targaryen ancestors

You may remember Dragonstone as the home of the melancholy Stannis Baratheon, but it’s also VERY CLOSE to King’s Landing:

If Dany’s reached Dragonstone she could easily use it as a base of operations to attack King’s Landing via Blackwater Bay, a strategy Stannis employed, but was beaten back by Tyrion’s cunning and huge cache of wildfire. We don’t know if she’ll have made the entire journey by the season premiere, but this seems to suggest she’ll get there eventually.

There’s also a brief moment at the end of the trailer where you can see Cersei’s breath when she exhales, indicating Winter has finally come to Westeros. Then you get a glimpse of a white walker’s eye (presumably the Night King)

Is this just showing us that winter’s finally arrived and with it the White Walker menace? Or is it foreshadowing a Cersei-White Walker alliance? You’re going to have to wait until July 16th to find out, that’s when Season 7 of Game of Thrones premieres.

What do you think?
