I am a girl who loves to eat. I’m not ashamed — I’m a hungry girl and food is delicious. Chinese, Mexican, Thai, German, Ethiopian, Italian — I like it all. But being a girl who loves to eat can be hard. The world doesn’t understand us, they judge us, they don’t believe us when we say “yes we we can eat all this and no you can’t have any”. Here are nine things only girls who really love to eat will understand.
Don’t comment on how much food I’m eating
People always want to comment on how much girls eat, whether it’s a little or a lot. People who say sh*t like, “Wow, are you really gonna eat all that? It’s almost bikini season” are the worst. Yes, I am going to eat all this. And this summer, I’ll eat all of this while wearing a bikini.
“Forgetting to eat” is a foreign concept
I’ve heard people say that they get so busy they just forget to eat and I just cannot understand it. Do you also forget to breathe? Do you go hours without blinking? I don’t forget to eat, ever. I could be running from the police and still make time to stop at Taco Bell.
There’s no shame in loving to eat (although people will try and make you think there is)
People who are insecure about their own eating habits will try and make you feel bad about yours. Insecure people basically want to make other people feel bad all the time, it’s their curse. But we know that there’s no shame in loving to chow down. Pretty much every animal in the world spends 90 percent of their time trying to eat. It’s what we’re put on this planet to do. We only procreate so we can create a new generation of eaters.
There’s no such thing as guy food and girl food
Food doesn’t have a gender. Girls can eat wings, guys can eat rice cakes, it doesn’t matter. I can eat two Hungry Man meals in a row if I want to, femininity intact.
“Healthy appetite” is the kindest phrase in the English language
I love when people say I have a healthy appetite. It sounds so much better than, “Do you have a tapeworm?” or, “Gluttony is one of the seven sins.”
A good day is one where you find crumbs in your bra
Ah, so that’s where the rest of my Fritos went.
You’re so hungry right before your period. And during your period. And after it
My monthly cycle definitely affects my hunger levels, and it seems to constantly just make me hungrier. Preparing your uterus for a baby is tough business and requires lots of carbs for fuel.
You should never date someone who judges how much you eat
So many girls are afraid to eat in front of guys. Never be afraid, ladies. Find someone who loves you just the way you are — a hungry, hungry girl.
This justification always works no matter how old you are
