There are no actual tricks to making someone fall in love with you (or else it wouldn’t be love), but there are ways to increase the chances that someone great will fall head over heels for you. A lot of the time it’s about getting out of your own head, thinking about someone else more than yourself, finding someone you’re actually compatible with, and treating them right. See, not so hard! Here are seven ways to make someone fall in love with you.
1) Find someone you really like who treats you well
You can’t make a cake out of bowling balls, you know what I mean? You need the right ingredients. You have to start with the right person — someone you really like. Don’t pick someone just because you think they’re hot or because they want to date you and you just want to date someone. You need to truly like who they are in their soul, and they need to treat you well. Love comes from a place of respect and kindness. Never settle for someone who doesn’t treat you well. True love isn’t about fighting and drama.
2) Ask them questions about themselves
Okay, so it’s your first date with a person you really like who’s really nice to you. Awesome! Don’t worry about impressing them with funny stories and expensive clothes. Just try and get to know them. Ask them questions about themselves, their opinions on things, and how they see the world. Everyone wants to feel like someone truly cares.
3) Really listen to them and be interested in their answers
One of the best skills in a relationship is being a good listener. When they’re talking about themselves, really listen. And the best way to be a good listener is to actually give a sh*t about what they’re talking about. If you don’t really care about their answers, maybe you don’t really like that person enough and you should go back to step one.
4) Be yourself
I know everyone says this, but that’s because it’s true! First of all, you want someone to fall in love with you, not some concocted version of yourself. And people like those who are genuine, so just be yourself and the right person will like you. It doesn’t matter what you’re into — if you like video games, you don’t have to pretend you’re into sports. Just be into video games. Lots of other people are, too. If you like to dress up, dress up. If you’re a sweatpants person, be a sweatpants person.
5) Treat them like they’re important to you
One of the mistakes people make in relationships is working really hard to “get” someone and then feeling like they can stop trying. If you love someone, you have to treat them with love every day. Never take them for granted.
6) Lather, rinse, repeat.
Not everyone is going to love you. That’s okay. You want someone who actually loves you for you, someone you can have a real connection with. And if someone doesn’t feel the same way about you, they aren’t the right one. Never give up!
7) Or I guess try this love spell
If you’re disappointed with these tips, I found a love spell for you at Spells of Magic that says all you need is a glass bottle, to which you add fire (it says to add this first), water, earth, air, and a piece of your crush’s hair. Then you say the light spell — I guess if you know how to add fire to a perfume bottle you already know the light spell — then dab on your potion. And then the person will love you. Personally, I think my way is easier.
Using these strategies, someone will fall in love with you. It might not be right now, and it might not be the person you think you want. But eventually it’ll be the right one. If you try these tips and they work, tweet me your wedding pics @erikaheidewald!
