Prom is supposed to be one of the most special events in a high schoolers life. I mean so I’ve heard, I didn’t go to mine. BUT STILL! I think if you want to go you should be able to, I’m not a totally unsentimental cynic! But the following students were BANNED from going to prom for some pretty ridiculous reasons. I mean come on already, we’re in the 2000s already, can we stop with the puritanical BS already? Here’s a look at some students who had their dream prom fantasies crushed by the idiots in charge.
Too Much Cleavage
After Brittany Minder was kicked out of prom for baring too much of her ample chest, she was given the opportunity to come back if she covered up, but by that point the senior was too humiliated to attend. Technically strapless dresses were allowed as long as it didn’t expose cleavage. So I guess you could wear one of you were flat-chested? Can I get a big chest shaming think piece up in here!?
For Wanting to Wear a Dress
Hey at least Brittany was allowed to wear a dress! Tony Zamazal, a transgender student was told that she wasn’t allowed to attend wearing a dress no matter how covered up she was. Luckily the ACLU stepped in and Tony was allowed to wear the dress after all. When are schools going to learn? Don’t we have more important things to deal with?
Dress Too Short
Oh man, this high school student was kicked out of prom , because her dress was making the dad chaperones have impure thoughts. Um, gross? How about kicking out the dads? The dress didn’t even violate the dress code which said dress length had to be longer than where your fingertips hit your legs. But the dads definitely violated all senses of decency. Get a grip, pervy dads!
For Being Lesbians
Can we just let people attend prom with who they want already? Hope Decker and Tiffany Wright were told the couldn’t attend their school’s prom because of the Catholic church’s position on homosexuality. I mean I guess it’s not surprising at a Catholic school, but I thought they had a cool Pope now? The girls ended up making their own parking lot prom and saying EFF you to power. Good for them!
For Wearing a Tux
According to Bishop McDevitt High School, the dress code was sent to all parents three months in advance and clearly said that girls must wear formal dresses, or they would be banned from prom. But student Aniya Wolf, a lesbian, claims it was a last-minute email and she had never worn a dress her whole time at the school. When she showed up in a tux, she wasn’t allowed in. Again, what is the big effing deal? Women wear pants, okay? It’s not anything sinister. Calm down, sexists!
For Wearing Jeans
Shafer Rupard was also kicked out of prom for wearing pants, and the school supposedly didn’t even have a dress code! WTF? A teacher just didn’t like it and asked her to leave. What a pill! I’d almost accept the ban more if it was for her knocking off Bieber’s style. Just Saying!
For Showing Midriff
Mireya Briceno was asked to leave her promMireya Briceno was asked to leave her prom after someone said her dress violated dress code. They claimed the dress showed her midriff…when she lifted her arms. Ugh, these people need to get a life, seriously. Don’t we have some of the worst public schools in the world? Shouldn’t we be more worried about that?
Which one do you think is the most ridiculous?
