It’s hard to imagine that mega-watt stars like Selena Gomez and Zac Efron were ever anything but rich and famous, but they had to put in the work just like the rest of us. And while their version of putting in the work wasn’t 16 years of mind-numbing education followed by forty years at an unfulfilling, soul-draining desk job, it was work nonetheless! (Sorry for that dark moment…) Check out these Disney Channel audition tapes!
1. Demi Lovato
Oh look it’s Demetria Devonne Lovato (or Demi, as some people know her). Before the platinum-selling People’s Choice Award winner was up the hizzy, our gal was just another young actress hoping to make it big. Safe to say, Sonny and her chance are killing it.
2. Miley Cyrus
Remember Hannah Montana? With just a switch of a wig, she transformed into a completely different girl. Oh TV magic you amaze us!
3. The cast of High School Musical
When the kiddos of High School Musical auditioned, little did they know it was the start of something new. After much bopping, they made it to the top and snagged those roles, cementing their status in Disney original film movie.
4. Ross Lynch
How could future-Austin not make it big with those guitar pick necklaces? I mean, COME ON.
5. Lindsay Lohan
A little redhead doing a British accent? That has STAR written all over it! Lil’ Lindsay nailed this screen test, and we’re totally industry pros, so we know. PS, we heard Lindsay Lohan desperately wants in on the live-action The Little Mermaid. Yo L, we’re sending over this link ASAP!
6. Jonas Brothers
With over 17 million albums sold worldwide, the Jonas Bros are certified Disney royalty. But of course, there was a time when they had to give a mini concert in a cramped Burbank audition room.
7. Selena Gomez
Selena sure killed ‘em with kindness in this adorable audition tape. No doubt about it, it comes naturally for this girl who’s apparently sick of the same old love. (Too many? Not subtle? I’ll try to slow down.)
If you could see an audition tape from any other Disney star, who’s would it be? Let me know on Twitter @AndiHester! My vote’s for Phil from Phil of the Future — cue the music!
