It happens to the best of us — you try out a new hairstyle, but your fantasy dream hair turned out to be a real life nightmare. There are very definite stages of coping with whatever it is that now lives on your head, and so you have some idea of what’s going on, here are the phases of dealing with an awful haircut!
As you look at your head in the mirror, the hair clippings down on the floor, then back at your head in the mirror again, you wonder if this is really real. There’s no way your stylist took that much off?
How in the world could one human being do this to another human being? Is there no love in the world? The only thing you can do is repeat the mantra “hair grows” to calm yourself. (Although it never grows fast enough, does it?)
Maybe if you beg your stylist she’ll glue it back on? It could happen, right? There has to be away around living with this monstrosity your stylist is trying to pass off as a pixie.
You don’t want to leave your house for days just in case someone sees you with what you laughingly call a haircut. All you can do is just look through old photos when had a full head of hair and pine for those glory days.
You finally accept that this is just your hair now and you’re going to have to live with it, for better or worse (or until it grows back out).
Lots and lots of hats.
