Late last month, Marvel released the first issue of the new Captain America comic Captain America: Steve Rogers. As you can guess by the title, Steve Rogers, the original Cap, is back. What you can’t tell by the title, is that this new issue reveals that Captain America, international hero and defender of all that is right, has secretly been a Hydra agent the entire time.
This is probably one of those things Marvel will change before too long, (like the time Cap was a werewolf), but the backlash has been enormous and hilarious. The comic book fans on 4chan’s /co/ board started creating edits of the now-infamous comic panel, with other heroes and characters saying things that are against their very nature. This meme spread to Tumblr, Imgur, and beyond, and now here we are. Here are some of the best.
