The Vegetable Orchestra in Vienna literally plays with their food. Founded in 1998, the Austrian group is comprised of ten musicians, one cook, and one sound technician. They perform a wide variety of music all over the world on instruments made of fresh veggies.
“The preparations start in the morning before the concert when the group hits the local market to pick the right veggies for the job. The process of turning those into instruments takes around 2-3 hours and when they’re all set – the concert starts.”
The fun doesn’t stop at the end of the performance. After each concert the orchestra shares fresh vegetable soup with their audience.
